With the forecast calling for inclement weather starting on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 24, it is required that all George Mason University resident students with surface parking permits relocate their vehicles into the ungated general permit areas of the Rappahannock (levels 1-3) or Shenandoah Parking Decks (levels 1-4) starting Friday, Jan. 23, at 6 a.m. and before 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24.

Lot L on George Mason University's Fairfax Campus will be closed starting at 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 21, until Friday, Jan. 23, at 2 p.m. due to a large event at EagleBank Arena.

As the spring 2026 semester starts, George Mason students, faculty, and staff are reminded that traffic on and around the Fairfax Campus greatly increases during the first few weeks of the semester. We hope that the following campus parking and transportation guide will help minimize potential parking and traffic delays.

Road closures will be in effect on the Science and Technology Campus on Thursday, Nov. 27, for the Prince William Turkey Trot.

A new lightning alert system has been installed on the Science and Technology Campus to provide weather warnings to students, employees, and visitors who are outdoors.

Road closures will be in effect on George Mason University's Fairfax Campus on Saturday, Oct. 18, during the George Mason 5K Run/Walk and Fun Run. The Fun Run starts at 7:30 a.m., followed by the 5K at 8 a.m. The races start and finish on Mason Pond Drive near Holton Plaza, between Buchanan Hall and the Center for the Arts.

The sidewalk on Fairfax Drive near Fuse at Mason Square will be closed on Saturday, Sept. 6, and Sunday, Sept. 7, while a crane is parked in the area installing signage. Partial lane closures will be in effect in westbound lanes on Fairfax Drive.

George Mason University will host IVth Night at the RAC Field and post-game fireworks at the men’s soccer game on the evening of Thursday, Aug. 28. Road closures will be in effect on the Fairfax Campus.

George Mason students, faculty, and staff are reminded that traffic on and around the Fairfax Campus greatly increases during the first few weeks of the semester. During the first few weeks of the semester, we suggest allowing an extra 30 minutes to arrive on campus.

As George Mason University welcomes nearly 6,000 residential students to the Fairfax Campus from Wednesday, Aug. 20, to Sunday, Aug. 24, the campus community should expect increased traffic and parking delays.

George Mason University will test the outdoor speaker system on the Science and Technology Campus on Monday, Aug. 11.

Contractors will complete milling, paving, restriping, and minor concrete work at Mason Square on Monday, Aug. 4, Thursday, Aug. 7, and Friday, Aug. 8. Work will occur on Founders Way North and the alleys around Vernon Smith Hall between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Temporary lane closures will be in place.
